Connor is a 70s punk. He rips his own jeans and hates mainstream music almost as much "The Man". Sporting a shaved head, and wearing clothing that almost no one approves of, he's your typical rebellious kid, but not for a lack of reason. All of my teenage characters struggle a lot with poverty, family, and bullying, and I think this shows up in Connor within his counterculture attitude. Similar to Kitty, he doesn't have enough money for the latest trends, so he uses this to his advantage and manages to create a unique look for himself. However, unlike Kitty, Connor cares more about what people think of him, especially in regards to his masculinity and keeping up the "cool" persona he's created for himself over the years.
Connor's style was inspired by 70s punk bands (i.e., the "Sex Pistols") as well as 70s alternative street fashion. Drawing Connor as punk was not just about putting him in band t-shirts and ripped clothing, but having him stray away from what was popular at the time. Unlike many of my other characters, with Connor there is a lack of bell-bottoms and wide-collared shirts, and overall "flair". He wears basic patterns, such as stripes or plaid, and prefers more muted colors. However, over the course of the story, Connor's style will evolve more and become more experimental, even echoing the beginnings of 80s punk trends. This will coincide with his own character development, and I have been considering how this will work for other characters as well.
